TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation)

What is TAVI (Transcatheter aortic valve implantation)?

TAVI is a procedure that involves a new heart valve being inserted without the need for open heart surgery. A fully collapsible new valve was delivered to the original valve site using a special catheter. It is done via the groin artery under simple sedation most of the time without needing to put the patient under general anaesthesia.

Your cardiologist will explain the procedure in detail, including the indications and the risks.
